Fundamentals

How we work.

A scientist has a lab, a notebook, and one rule: don't fake the results. We test what's real, keep what works, and throw out what doesn't. These are the twelve fundamentals we hold the work to.

1Simple

Keep it simple. Build stuff that works.

Customers don't care how clever your website is. They care that it loads, makes sense, and solves their problem. So we build for that. Simple that works beats fancy that impresses other marketers. You do not need another agency handing you homework.

2Diagnosis

Find the leak before you build the engine.

Bad results are rarely a one-tactic problem. It's usually a messy CRM, or sales and marketing not talking, or nobody ever asked who the buyer is. We look at the whole system first and name the real cause, even when it's the harder conversation. First we find the leaks. Then we build the engine.

3Trust

Sell the fix they need, not the one that pays best.

If your Google Business Profile is already strong, we won't sell you Google Business Profile optimization. We'd rather tell you “you don't need that” and be the call you make for ten years than book one invoice we can't defend. Trust is the entire business.

4Taste + Science

Taste plus science.

Taste is what makes you sound like you and not like every other company in your industry. Science is knowing what actually works and which tactic fits which market. Creativity without science is noise. Science without creativity is a spreadsheet nobody reads. We do both, on purpose. It's literally the name.

5Distinction

Don't sound like everyone else in the room.

If your marketing could belong to any company in your industry, it belongs to none of them. Copy the noise everyone makes and you become noise. We help a brand find its real voice so buyers get it fast, remember it, and want more. Sounding different isn't decoration. It's how you get picked.

6The journey

Perform to the whole journey, front row and back row.

Rich came up in theater and dance, where you play to the whole house. The back row needs it big and clear. The front row catches every detail. The buyer's journey is the same show: someone just discovering you sits in the back and needs the one-line version, someone close to buying sits up front and needs the detail that holds up, with a middle that carries them across. We build for every stage, not one message flung at everyone.

7Optimization

Do more of what works. Test the rest.

When something lands, we don't get bored of it. We run it again. The proven beats get repeated until they stop working, and everything else is an experiment to find the next winner. Most marketing does the opposite: it chases novelty and quietly drops the thing that was working. A good performance, repeated, is why the audience comes back to see the same show twice.

8Honesty

Every number has to be real.

We won't put a stat on a page we can't defend. No inflated results, no “up to 300%” weasel math, no borrowed case study wearing your logo. When we say the work moved the needle, we can point at the needle. The one time a client catches a marketer stretching the truth, they stop believing all of it.

9Experience

We've sat in your chair.

Rich spent a decade as the first and only marketing hire, and ran marketing inside a manufacturer. He's been the one drowning with no one to learn from. So we get the busy-owner relationship: we get what we need without burying you in questions. When a manufacturer talks to us, they think “he knows my world,” because we do.

10Partnership

We stay in the room.

Plenty of shops build a thing and vanish. New website, one campaign, invoice, gone. We're the opposite by design. Marketing isn't a launch, it's a loop, and we stay in it with you. The same person who ran the audit is still there when the results come in. You get a partner, not a project.

11Momentum

Make it first. Perfect it later.

Rich is creative first, in love with making even when it comes out rough, because rough is where you learn. For the work, that's a bias to action: make a real version, put it in front of the world, and learn what's true instead of polishing a deck for three months. Ship, watch, adjust. We diagnose fast, then make. Never an excuse to wing it with your budget.

12Curiosity

Stay curious. Have fun with it.

We're called Creativity Scientist because the job really is running experiments. Some work, some flop, all of them teach you something, and the flops are half the fun. We like cracking the puzzle of why a business isn't getting found and watching a quiet brand start to get noticed. Boring marketing is the one thing we refuse to make.

The short version

Keep it simple, keep it honest, keep it interesting.

If you only remember one of the twelve, remember that. The rest is detail.
